What is skin tag removal, and is it right for me?

Skin tags are small, soft, harmless growths that hang from the skin, often on the neck, underarms and body folds. At Liftique, a dermatologist removes them with a 10,600 nm CO2 laser under numbing, usually in 5 to 30 minutes and 1 to 2 sessions. Fine scabs fall off within a few days to 2 weeks, and prices start from ₩20,000 per lesion.

Smooth, comfortable skin in one short visit

Skin tags (acrochordons) are very common, non-cancerous growths of skin. They are usually skin-coloured or slightly darker, soft, and attached by a thin stalk, and they tend to appear where skin rubs against skin or clothing, such as the neck, armpits, groin and under the breasts. They are not contagious.

Because skin tags are harmless, removal is usually a personal choice. Many people choose it when tags catch on necklaces, collars or straps, become irritated, or simply bother them. A dermatologist's examination also confirms that a growth is a skin tag and not something that needs a different approach.

Neck and collar line

Clusters of small tags that rub on collars and necklaces, priced simply per lesion size.

Underarms and body folds

Tags in areas of friction that become irritated by clothing, straps or shaving.

Many tags at once

Bulk options cover up to 100 or 200 lesions across the face and neck in one plan.

Tags on the face

Small facial tags, where intensity adjusted to each lesion helps protect the surrounding skin.

Irritated or catching tags

Tags that snag, become sore or occasionally bleed after friction.

Other lesions in the same visit

The same CO2 laser treats moles, warts, milia, syringoma and seborrheic keratosis, so concerns can be planned together.

How Liftique removes skin tags

  1. Examination

A board-certified dermatologist examines each growth to confirm it is a skin tag, and checks any lesion that looks unusual before treatment is offered.

  2. Numbing

Topical numbing cream or local anaesthetic is applied first, so the procedure is generally described as mild under anaesthesia. Sleep sedation is available where required for ₩200,000, with an 8-hour fast.

  3. Precise CO2 laser removal

The N-Pulse 10,600 nm CO2 laser removes each tag, with intensity adjusted to its size and depth to help minimise scarring and pigment change. Treatment takes about 5 to 30 minutes, depending on how many lesions you have.

  4. Aftercare and follow-up

You leave with guidance on regeneration tape and UV protection. Fine scabs form and fall off within a few days to 2 weeks, and your doctor can review healing by photo after you fly home.

Safety, risks and aftercare

CO2 laser removal is a routine dermatology procedure, but like any treatment that breaks the skin it carries some risk. Your dermatologist will explain what applies to your lesions.

  • Redness, mild swelling and small scabs at each treated spot.
  • Temporary darkening or lightening of the skin, more likely if the area is exposed to sun while healing.
  • A small mark or scar is possible, particularly with larger lesions.
  • Infection is uncommon but possible; follow your aftercare guidance.
  • New skin tags can develop over time, as removal does not stop new ones forming.
  • Tell us about blood-thinning medication, pregnancy, a tendency to keloid scars or a history of poor wound healing.

Skin tag removal FAQs

Are skin tags dangerous?

Skin tags are harmless, non-cancerous growths and are not contagious. Removal is usually for comfort or appearance. If a growth changes quickly, bleeds without reason or looks different from your other tags, a dermatologist should examine it.

How are skin tags removed at Liftique?

We use a 10,600 nm CO2 laser, adjusting the intensity to each lesion's size and depth. The area is numbed first, and treatment takes about 5 to 30 minutes depending on how many tags you have.

Does skin tag removal hurt?

We use topical or local anaesthesia, and the procedure is generally described as mild under anaesthesia. Sleep sedation is available where required for ₩200,000, with an 8-hour fast.

How much does skin tag removal cost?

Pricing is per lesion by size: ₩20,000 under 2mm, ₩30,000 for 2–5mm, ₩50,000 for 5mm–1cm and ₩100,000 over 1cm, excluding VAT. Packages cover up to 100 lesions (₩800,000) or up to 200 lesions (₩1,100,000) across the face and neck.

What is the recovery like?

Fine scabs form and fall off within a few days to 2 weeks. We give you guidance on regeneration tape and UV protection to support healing.

Can skin tags come back?

A removed tag does not usually return, though deeper lesions may need re-treatment. New skin tags can still develop elsewhere over time, particularly in areas of friction.

Is skin tag removal covered by insurance?

Coverage depends on why a lesion is removed and on your eligibility. If you are a Korean resident, please ask us whether National Health Insurance may apply; we cannot promise coverage.
