What is medical acne treatment, and is it right for me?
Medical acne treatment at Liftique is a dermatologist-planned program that targets oil, clogged pores and inflammation together, using extraction, peels, laser or RF, injections and, where suitable, prescription medication. It suits teenage and adult acne, including breakouts that keep returning on the jawline. Sessions are weekly, skin calms gradually, most people resume daily life the same day, and prices start from ₩10,000.
Treat the cause of breakouts, not just the spots
Acne is a common skin condition in which hair follicles become blocked with oil and dead skin cells, leading to blackheads, whiteheads, red spots and, in some people, deeper painful lumps. It is not caused by poor hygiene, and it can affect adults as well as teenagers.
Over-the-counter products help many people, but persistent or inflamed acne often needs a dermatologist. Our approach addresses three things at once: sebum (oil) control, normal shedding of skin cells inside the pore, and inflammation. Treating all three together is what helps reduce new breakouts and lower the chance of lasting marks.

Skin analysis and staging
A dermatologist examines your skin with 2D Mark-Vu analysis and determines whether your acne is mainly comedonal (blackheads and whiteheads) or inflamed and pustular, and whether it is a temporary flare or a chronic, recurring pattern.

Extraction range, laser wavelength and any prescription, including isotretinoin where appropriate, are chosen individually. Options include scaling, extraction, GV laser, Potenza RF microneedling, laser toning, Clarity laser and intralesional TA injection, given in stages.

Careful in-clinic treatment
Extraction is performed by medical staff who are members of the Korean Acne Society, with precise laser settings. Numbing cream is used when needed, and a session takes 30 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes depending on the program.

Every session ends with soothing care. Treatments are repeated at 1-week intervals, typically as a 5-session package, and your doctor can follow up by photo once you are home.

Safety, risks and aftercare
Acne treatments are generally well tolerated, but every medical treatment carries some risk. Your dermatologist will explain what applies to you before you start.
- Temporary redness, sensitivity or mild swelling after extraction, peels or laser, usually settling within hours to a few days.
- Discomfort during extraction or injections, generally mild to moderate and managed with numbing cream when needed.
- Anti-inflammatory (TA) injections can occasionally cause a small temporary dent or lighter patch at the injection site.
- Isotretinoin commonly causes dry lips and skin, needs regular doctor supervision, and must not be taken during pregnancy or if you may become pregnant.
- Acne can flare again after treatment, so ongoing skincare and occasional maintenance may be needed.
- Please tell us about your medications, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any history of keloid scars before treatment.
Acne treatment FAQs
How many acne treatment sessions will I need?
Most patients follow a program of weekly sessions, and our standard acne package is 5 sessions. The right number depends on the type and severity of your acne, which your dermatologist assesses at the first visit. Results vary from person to person.
Can I go back to work or sightseeing after a session?
Usually, yes. After extraction and scaling, most people return to daily life immediately, with slight redness that settles on its own. If laser or RF treatment is added, your doctor will explain any extra recovery time.
Does acne extraction hurt?
Extraction can feel uncomfortable, and pain is generally described as mild to moderate. We use numbing cream when needed, and sleep sedation is available where required for ₩200,000, with an 8-hour fast.
Do you prescribe isotretinoin?
Isotretinoin may be prescribed as part of a staged program when a dermatologist judges it suitable. It requires medical supervision and is not suitable during pregnancy or when trying to conceive, so we review your health history first.
I am only in Seoul for a few days. Is it worth starting?
A single care session with extraction, peel and anti-inflammatory injection can help calm active breakouts during a short trip. For lasting control, your dermatologist can suggest a home routine and follow up with you by photo after you fly home.

Will treating my acne prevent scars?
