What is mole removal, and is it right for me?

Mole removal at Liftique is a dermatologist-led CO2 laser treatment for moles assessed as benign that you would prefer to remove for appearance or comfort. The 10,600 nm laser is adjusted to each mole, takes about 5 to 30 minutes under numbing, and needs 1 to 2 sessions depending on depth. Fine scabs fall off within a few days to 2 weeks; prices start from ₩20,000 per mole.

Clearer skin, with safety checked first

Moles (melanocytic naevi) are common growths made of pigment-producing cells. Most are harmless and may be flat or raised, and brown, black or skin-coloured. Many people choose to remove moles that are raised, catch on clothing, or affect how they feel about their appearance.

Safety comes first. A mole that is new in adulthood, changing in size, shape or colour, irregular, itchy or bleeding should be checked by a dermatologist. Laser removal is suitable only for moles a dermatologist judges to be benign; a mole that looks unusual needs proper assessment, which may include a biopsy, rather than laser treatment.

Raised facial moles

Moles that stand out on the face, where depth-adjusted laser settings help protect the surrounding skin.

Small flat moles

Little brown spots you would prefer to clear, priced simply by size.

Moles that catch

Moles on the neck or body that rub on collars, straps or razors.

Many small lesions

Bulk options cover up to 100 or 200 lesions across the face and neck.

Other raised spots

The same laser treats seborrheic keratosis (age spots), skin tags, milia and syringoma.

Peace of mind

Every mole is examined by a board-certified dermatologist before any removal is offered.

How Liftique removes moles

  1. Dermatologist examination

Each mole is examined by a board-certified dermatologist. If a mole shows warning signs, your doctor will advise on appropriate assessment before any removal is considered.

  2. Numbing

Topical numbing cream or local anaesthetic is applied first, so the procedure is generally described as mild under anaesthesia. Sleep sedation is available where required for ₩200,000, with an 8-hour fast.

  3. Depth-adjusted CO2 laser

The N-Pulse 10,600 nm CO2 laser removes the mole, with intensity adjusted to its size and depth to help minimise scarring and hyperpigmentation. Most visits take 5 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of moles.

  4. Healing and follow-up

You receive guidance on regeneration tape and UV protection. Fine scabs fall off within a few days to 2 weeks, and deeper moles may need a second session.

Safety, risks and aftercare

CO2 laser mole removal is a common dermatology procedure, but it is still a medical treatment with risks. Your dermatologist will explain what applies to each mole.

  • Redness, mild swelling and fine scabs at each treated spot.
  • A small depressed or lighter mark is possible, especially after removing larger or deeper moles.
  • Temporary darkening of the skin (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), more likely with sun exposure while healing.
  • Pigment can occasionally return in deeper moles, which may need re-treatment.
  • Laser removal does not provide tissue for laboratory analysis, which is why any mole of concern is assessed differently.
  • Tell us about a tendency to keloid scars, blood-thinning medication, pregnancy, or any mole that has changed.

Mole removal FAQs

Is laser mole removal safe?

When performed by a dermatologist on a mole that has been examined and judged benign, CO2 laser removal is a well-established option. Like any procedure, it carries risks such as temporary pigment change or a small mark, which your doctor will explain.

Which moles should not be removed by laser?

Moles with warning signs, such as recent change in size, shape or colour, irregular borders, several colours, itching or bleeding, need proper medical assessment first. Your dermatologist will advise on the right next step, which may include a biopsy.

Will mole removal leave a scar?

We adjust the laser intensity to each mole's depth and size to help minimise scarring and pigment change. A small mark is still possible, particularly with larger or deeper moles, and results vary.

Does mole removal hurt?

The area is numbed with topical or local anaesthesia, and discomfort is generally described as mild. Sleep sedation is available where required for ₩200,000, with an 8-hour fast.

How much does mole removal cost?

Pricing is per mole by size: ₩20,000 under 2mm, ₩30,000 for 2–5mm, ₩50,000 for 5mm–1cm and ₩100,000 over 1cm, excluding VAT. For many lesions, packages cover up to 100 lesions (₩800,000) or up to 200 lesions (₩1,100,000) across the face and neck.

Can a mole come back after removal?

Most treated moles do not return, but deeper moles may need re-treatment if pigment reappears. Your dermatologist will check healing and advise.

What is recovery like, and can I travel?

Fine scabs form and fall off within a few days to 2 weeks, and we give guidance on regeneration tape and UV protection. Plan around visible scabs for photos, and your doctor can review healing by photo after you fly home.

Is mole removal covered by insurance?

Coverage depends on why a mole is removed and on your eligibility. Some medical treatment may be partly covered by Korea's National Health Insurance for eligible Korean residents, so please ask us whether insurance applies; we cannot promise coverage.
